Online shopping is the fastest, smartest way to pick up on the latest trends this spring, with a whole universe of great styles out there for the discerning online shopper. However, while the tech gear you’re shopping with might be ultra-modern and fit for the 21st century, this season the style is going retro, with bold floral prints showing up in many top designers’ spring and summer collections. What better way to celebrate the flowers blooming and the days finally getting longer than by wearing bright clothing and fun prints?
It’s not only the prints that are looking back to yesteryear. The cuts of the dresses show a similarly bohemian Mad Men-inspired 1960s chic, with mid-thigh, long-sleeve dresses making a big comeback, along with wide headbands.

In terms of colour, soft muted tones are still the ‘in look’ for dresses this year, with last year’s mild fixation with neon (thankfully) consigned to history. Now, even the most flowery prints are making bold statements through their patterns rather than with loud colours. If you don’t feel like you can pull off the flower power look (which you totally can, by the way), but still want to make a statement with a patterned top or dress, look for pieces with angular patterns or bold black-and-white.
While the dresses are firmly 1960s in style, designers are taking inspiration for pants from the seventies, going for a flared look in brighter colours. Try pairing bright flares with a boxy white top to showcase these statement-makers.
If spring turns out to be a little chillier than expected, don’t worry: you can always shop online for knitwear – that is, if you haven’t taken up knitting yourself yet. As with dresses, it’s the angular, black-and-white patterns that are showing up on the catwalk in 2015, so you can keep warm and stay stylish at the same time.
The other big online shopping trend this season is ankle boots. Versatile and stylish, they’re the perfect in-between-seasons shoe. Look for ankle boots in dark tones and rusty browns and reds. If you must have a patterned shoe, heeled sandals in black-and-white are the way to go.
This spring you can expect to see plenty of bold florals, angular patterns and retro inspired cuts. And if you’re feeling nostalgic, rock a pair of denim flares! Whatever your style, spring has sprung and it’s time to go shopping!
